Hi,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m an educator for homeschool students and this page, https://astronomyforchange.org/astronomy-and-youth/ has been a fantastic resource for our Astronomy Class.

For extra credit research assignment, one of our students, Danielle, found a valuable resource here:

https://billyoh.com/resource/back-garden-astronomy-creating-your-perfect-home-stargazing-setup/

She suggested sharing it with you, believing it could be a great additional resource to your webpage.

Would you please consider adding a link to this page, even if only temporarily? I want to show the group they can accomplish things if they aren’t afraid to come out of their shells and simply ask. Your support would mean a lot to us, and I’m excited to share this opportunity with them!

Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best,
Ms. AL

Hi,

I hope the day is going well! I’m writing to thank the Astronomy For Change team on behalf of my grandson, Jacob, who recently began working toward his Astronomy merit badge for Scouting America. He’s been having such a great time learning about astronomy and the night sky, and it’s been fun hearing him share all the interesting things he’s discovered along the way as someone who knows next to nothing about it.

As Jacob was doing some research for his badge requirements, he came across your “Astronomy and Youth” page, astronomyforchange.org/astronomy-and-youth/ and really appreciated the helpful information! It gave him a better understanding of what he needed to know and helped him feel more prepared and confident as he gets ready to explain various astronomy topics to his merit badge counselor. Thank you so much!

Jacob also came across another helpful article he thought was worth sharing! It’s couponfollow.com/research/free-astronomy-resources and it offers a ton of great resources and tips for beginners who want to learn more about astronomy without needing any expensive equipment.

He thought it might make a helpful addition to your page! I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on it if you have the time. I live in a retirement home, and Jacob usually comes to visit me over the weekends, so I would absolutely love to show him if his suggestion was included next time he’s here. I just know he would be beyond proud to see that something he recommended could help someone else discover the wonders of astronomy.

Take care and thanks again,
Jacob and Hannah

You’re welcome, Jacob and Hannah and thank you for your thoughtful remarks and excellent suggestions! We’ve gone ahead and linked to Jacobs article above and on the Astronomy and Youth page.

We wish him every success as he pursues his Astronomy Merit Badge and continues his academics, onward and upward towards greatness!

One particular astronomer on staff here at AFC actually began his career much as Jacob is doing now, by reading and studying independently, being resourceful, asking questions, walking that road less traveled. He eventually went on to become an esteemed Professor of Astronomy at a prestigious State University. That Jacob is pursuing his Astronomy Merit Badge (something we teach and coach here as part of our youth outreach program), gives us hope as well. We have every confidence that Jacob’s is a success story that ends in greatness; his is a story of hope and inspiration in an uncertain world. Since time immemorial, the majesty of the night sky has inspired us to reach for the moon and stars and so it has in Jacob’s young, fertile mind. We wish him every success and welcome any questions or feedback.

Thank you again for supporting our mission of positive change through Astronomy and Science education.

With kindest regards,
The Astronomy for Change Outreach Team
